Homemade flan is a dessert that’s easy to prepare. And if we add a different touch to the traditional flan, it is sure to be a hit among your guests.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup pineapple juice
  • 5 eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pineapple essence
  • 1 1/2 cup sugar for caramel

Directions

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Prepare flan pan for water bath.
  • 2
Cook sugar in a saucepan over medium heat without stirring, but make sure it doesn’t burn. Once it begins to melt and turns a golden brown color, immediately remove from the heat so that it doesn’t get too dark. If it gets dark, it will have a bitter taste.
  • 3
Quickly pour it into the mold you’ll use for the flan, evenly distributing it until it coats the bottom and sides. Be very careful so you don’t get burned.
  • 4
Mix all the ingredients in blender and strain before pouring it into the mold already prepared with the caramel.
  • 5
Place the flan pan in a water bath and bake for 1 hour.
  • 6
Let it cool at room temperature and refrigerate until it’s time to unmold and serve it.

Expert Tips

  • Prior to serving, you may garnish it with whipped cream and a cherry.
