Today I have calzone temptation, it’s a delicious apple pie pastry that’s so easy that it’s hard to resist. This apple pie calzone recipe it perfect for when you want to make a homemade dessert, but don’t have time to make the dough from scratch since it requires too much time. This time I made a super quick version using Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust. This version can be made in the blink of an eye and will be enjoyed by children and adults alike. I served it with vanilla ice cream, my husband and children loved it!

Ingredients

  • 1 whipped egg
  • 1 tablespoon of water
  • 3 apples
  • 4 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of flour
  • Juice from half of one small lemon
  • 1 can (11 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Thin Crust Pizza Crust
  • Sugar, to taste

Directions

  • 1
Lightly beat the eggs and water in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • 2
Peel the apples and cut into thin slices, mix 4 tablespoons of sugar, 1 tablespoon of flour and the juice from half of one lemon. Set aside.
  • 3
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Cover a baking dish with parchment paper.
  • 4
Open the can of dough as per the instructions on the package. Extend the dough over a clean and lightly floured surface. Use a knife to cut the dough into 4 equal rectangles.
  • 5
Place the apple mixture on the left side of the rectangle, but leave the borders dry.
  • 6
Carefully fold over the right end. Seal the borders with a fork or your fingertips. Place in the baking dish. Repeat the process with the remaining rectangles.
  • 7
Use a kitchen brush to paint the calzones with the egg mixture and sprinkle with a bit of sugar. Bake for 20 minutes or until they’ve browned a bit.
