oz uncooked multigrain linguine

tablespoon olive oil

cloves garlic, finely chopped

teaspoon freshly ground pepper

lb fresh asparagus spears, trimmed, cut diagonally into 1 1/2-inch pieces

package (8 oz) fresh whole mushrooms, cut in half
1/4
cup dry white wine
1/4
teaspoon salt

tablespoons butter
1/4
cup shredded fresh basil leaves
1/4
teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

    Cook linguine as directed on package, omitting salt and oil. Drain and return to saucepan; cover to keep warm.

    Meanwhile, in large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add garlic and pepper; cook and stir 30 seconds. Add asparagus, mushrooms, wine and salt. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. Cook uncovered 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until asparagus is crisp-tender. Remove from heat; stir in butter.

    Add linguine to skillet; toss gently to combine with vegetables. Sprinkle with basil and pepper flakes.

Expert Tips

  • For a special touch, enjoy a glass of Chardonnay with this linguine entrée. A 5-oz glass will add about 125 calories per serving.
