I love brownies. Who doesn’t, right? I remember some years ago I’d invite a few of my closest girlfriends over to my place to have brownie-making parties. It was a great way to bond with my girls. I recently discovered a way to make my brownies whole grain, without compromising their rich flavor. These guilt-free brownies let you satisfy your chocolate-loving side without feeling remorseful.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks butter, melted
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350 °F. Spray an 8x8 inch baking pan with non-stick baking spray. Set aside.

    In a mixer, add butter and sugar. Cream until sugar dissolves and is no longer grainy in consistency, for about 5 minutes. Add vanilla extract and eggs, and mix to combine.

    In a small bowl, sift the cocoa, baking powder, and flour. Add the dry powder mix to wet ingredients until fully incorporated.

    Add the chocolate chips. Spread the mixture into baking pan and bake for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely before slicing and serving. Enjoy!
