Few things are more refreshing on a hot summer day than a nice, frosty beer. But if you are looking for a beer drink with a little more personality, the Michelada is a great option. It blends ice cold pale ale with the heat from a little hot sauce. Plus, this Mexican beverage could not be easier to prepare, and it uses ingredients you might already have in your kitchen. In about 5 minutes you will have a delicious frosty drink, with a spicy kick!

Ingredients

  • 1 large beer mug
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon Buffalo wing sauce or hot sauce
  • Lime wedge
  • Coarse salt
  • 1 bottle (12 oz) pale ale or lager beer
  • Ice, if desired

Directions

    Gather all of your ingredients: 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon hot sauce, 1/4 teaspoon seasoning sauce, 1 bottle (12 oz) pale ale or lager beer, lime wedges, coarse salt and ice, as desired. You will also need a beer mug and a small bowl.

    Put the beer mug in the freezer while you prepare the ingredients for this refreshing drink. You want the mug to be frosty when it’s time to pour the drink. Since the recipe is so quick and easy, put your bottle of beer in the freezer too! This will help ensure the drink is as cool and refreshing as possible.

    In your bowl, mix together the lime juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce and seasoning sauce.

    Take your beer mug out of the freezer and rub one of the lime wedges around the rim.

    Dip the mug in salt, making sure you get a nice even salted rim.

    Pour the mix and the beer into the mug.

    Serve immediately and enjoy!
