A hummus recipe is an excellent appetizer for any fiesta or celebration. This favorite dip of Mediterranean cuisine is an easy option to prepare for friends and family. Ingredients

cups canned garbanzo beans

cup sesame seed paste (tahini)

garlic clove

cup fresh cilantro, diced
1/2
cup olive oil, good quality
1/3
cup lemon juice
Salt, to taste

    In a food processor or blender, combine the garbanzo beans, sesame seed paste, garlic, cilantro, olive oil, lemon juice and salt together. Blend until the mixture is thick but creamy.

    Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with a bit of olive oil. Accompany with toast or pita bread.

Expert Tips

  • The garbanzo beans can be substituted for white beans, also known as canellini.
  • Raw veggies also make a great snack when paired with hummus.
