Cooking fish can be quite easy because all you really need is an irresistible mix of spices. For example, in this recipe, I used a Cajun spice mix. This Cajun tilapia can be prepared in only a few minutes, so it’s perfect during those days when you don’t have much time to cook. I suggest you look for a Cajun spice mix called blackened seasoning mix because the mix of pepper and other herbs is exquisite. Serve the fillet with a layer of onion and bell peppers or with white rice. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 4 tilapia fillets
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Cajun spice mix
  • 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 lemon

Directions

  • 1
Dry the tilapia fillets with a paper towel.
  • 2
Using a kitchen brush, spread the butter on both sides of the fillets.
  • 3
Mix the Cajun spices with cayenne pepper.
  • 4
Sprinkle the spices on both sides of the fish.
  • 5
Heat up a pan and add butter if you have any left. Place two fish fillets in the pan and cook for 3-4 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Turn them over and cook for 2-3 more minutes. Repeat with the two other fillets.
  • 6
    Squeeze remaining lemon juice.
  • 7
Serve over a layer of onion and fried bell pepper or on white rice.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
It’s always better to use fresh tilapia, but if you want to save some time, you can buy a bag of frozen tilapia and keep it in the freezer until you want to prepare it. Just take out the fillets you need, put them in a plastic bag and submerge it in water at room temperature until the fillets are thawed.
  • tip 2
If you can’t find tilapia, you can use a different type of white fish.
