Often times, my mood determines what I'll cook on any particular day. Has that ever happened to you? When I go to the supermarket, I use the seasonal produce to define my menu, but how I feel helps me choose what I’ll buy. For example, apples or grapes, and chicken or beef. Today I'll talk about frustration, an emotion that I don't enjoy feeling, but is a part of my life. In these moments, I like to prepare something quick and comforting. At first I crave a piece of bread. This is my recipe for bacon and jalapeño breadsticks that are perfect for these frustrating times, I always feel better after the first bite. Besides, they're the perfect snack for any reunion, especially if you're sitting down with family to watch TV or sports.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (13.8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Classic Crust Pizza Crust
  • 2 jalapeños, deveined and chopped very finely
  • 2 thick slices of bacon or 4 thin slices

Directions

  • 1
    Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • 2
Remove the pizza dough from the refrigerator. Open the can and let sit in a glass bowl.
  • 3
Use scissors to cut the bacon into small pieces and set them to fry at high heat. When they've browned, remove the excess grease, but save 1-2 tablespoons.
  • 4
Set the pan back on the heat and add the chopped jalapeño; fry for one minute. Turn off the heat and let fry for 5 minutes.
  • 5
Grease your baking dish with the bacon grease you have set aside.
  • 6
Spread your dough out until you have a rectangle. Cover the surface with pepper and bacon. Cut into 20-24 pieces using a pizza cutter. Take each strip and twist, and then place on the baking dish. Repeat until your twisted all the strips.
  • 7
Bake for about 8 minutes or until the sticks take on a golden brown color.
  • 8
Remove from the oven and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
