Expert Tips

If you have any strawberry or kiwi fruit rounds left over, tuck them in the center of the tart prior to serving.

I love to enjoy brunch with my mom on Sundays. It’s a great time to catch up on family news and spend time with her over a hearty meal. When I host brunch in my kitchen, I love to make a thin strawberry and kiwi tart to savor over a hot cup of dark coffee. This dessert is easy and ready in less than 20 minutes. Perfect for those unexpected brunch guests with a sweet tooth. This quick treat can be stuffed with your favorite fruit. I selected to share with you my strawberry and kiwi fruit version.

Directions

  • 1 Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • 2 On a floured surface, roll out piecrust dough.
  • 3 Place dough-round on a large greased cookie sheet.
  • 4 Top with crushed cookies in the center of dough, leaving a 1 1/2 inch border.
  • 5 Arrange strawberry and kiwi rounds in circle formation, leaving the 1 1/2 inch border and starting from the outside of the circle in, until reaching the center of the tart. Carefully fold the border inward leaving the center of the tart exposed.
  • 6 Brush dough border with egg.
  • 7 Bake for 15 minutes or until golden.
  • 8 Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with honey; sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon.
