Expert Tips

Use soy, almond, or low-fat milk instead of water for a creamier consistency.

With the everyday hustle and bustle we experience, it's easy to skip breakfast or rely on quick fixes that aren't always good for us. But it's important that we find foods that satisfy us and provide us with energy to start the day. Lately, I've started to worry a little more about by my lifestyle, including my diet. That's why I've started to avoid foods that are high in fat content. On the other hand, among the preferred foods I've adopted are cereals and grains. And a delicious way to begin or end my day is with this tasty oatmeal with bananas and raisins, which keep me more than satisfied.

I also recommend using walnuts along with raisins.

Directions

  • 1 Boil the water in a deep pot.
  • 2 Add the oatmeal and vanilla and let cook at low heat for 15 minutes.
  • 3 Add the raisins, stir and let cook for another 5 minutes.
  • 4 Remove from the stove. Add the banana slices, sugar and milk.
  • 5 Mix and serve immediately.
