I sat down to relax in front of the TV after an intense day and decided to watch a movie with my daughters. I was overwhelmed with a craving for chocolate covered popcorn. That's right! White chocolate bars filled with the aromas of Hawaii like orange and lime, coconut, macadamia and pineapple. A marvelous invention that takes you to a luau. Popcorn is a classic snack that most people enjoy. It's delicious no matter how it's served, whether it's with salt, butter, seasoning, sweets, caramel or chocolate. Relax with me and indulge in this great treat!

Ingredients

  • 1, 9.6-oz popcorn bag (approximately 4 cups)
  • 12 ozs white chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon sweet coconut flakes
  • 1/4 cup chopped macadamias
  • 1/4 cup chopped candied pineapple
  • Coconut oil (optional)

Directions

  • 1
Prepare the popcorn in the microwave according to their instructions. Remove carefully and let cool. Place the popcorn on a tray lined with parchment paper. Make sure it's one even layer.
  • 2
In the meantime, place the chunks of white chocolate in a microwave-safe container. Cook for 30-second intervals and with the help of a silicone spatula or wooden spoon, stir and repeat the process as many times you need. Add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil to help soften it, if you like.
  • 3
Once the chocolate is soft, remove from the microwave and add the orange, lime and coconut flakes as well as the macadamias and chunks of candied pineapple. Mix with a wooden spoon and immediately sprinkle over the popcorn using the spoon, do this carefully so that all the ingredients stick.
  • 4
Place the tray in the refrigerator for 5 minutes so that the chocolate hardens and the ingredients stick. Then cut the bars with a knife and enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
If you don't want to use the microwave to melt the chocolate, use the double boil method.
  • tip 2
You can add coconut extract to the melted chocolate to give it a more tropical flavor.
  • tip 3
Put the bars away in a container with a lid at room temperature.
