Preparing porridge or baby food at home is not difficult and in most cases takes only 15 or 20 minutes. It doesn't take much time, so if you want to give your baby more natural foods that may be more wholesome, then you can any choose fresh fruits or vegetables to process. If you decide to prepare them, you need to use natural or organic products and keep all the utensils you use sterilized.

Ingredients

  • 1 (12 oz) package of Petite Steamable sweet potato
  • 1/4 cup milk, formula or breast milk

Directions

    Heat oven to 350°F. You'll need a glass mold.
  • 2
    Remove sweet potatoes from the package and arrange them in the mold. Cook them for 20 to 35 minutes, check with a fork if they are soft, remove from the oven and let cool.

    Peel them with a spoon, cut into pieces and process them until smooth. Add milk gradually until it reaches the consistency you want.

    You can use the sweet potatoes steamed or boiled as desired, if you decide to boil, remember to drain well.

    You can also add plantains, potatoes, taro and vegetables or boiled chicken to your homemade preparations. It all depends on how old your baby is and the foods he or she can eat, so you should consult your pediatrician.
