Grilled Beer Marinated Beef Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef top round steak (1/2 inch thick), trimmed of fat
  • 3/4 cup dark beer
  • 2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 small onion, sliced, separated into rings

Directions

    Place steak in resealable food-storage plastic bag or in 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish.

    In small bowl, mix beer, brown sugar, pepper, Worcestershire sauce and garlic until sugar is dissolved. Pour over steak. Turn steak to coat both sides. Seal bag or cover baking dish. Let stand at room temperature 15 minutes to marinate.

    Heat gas or charcoal grill. When ready to grill, remove steak from marinade; reserve marinade. Place steak on gas grill over medium-high heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium-high coals. Cook 6 minutes, brushing steak with marinade and turning once during cooking. Top with onion rings; grill an additional 2 to 4 minutes or until desired doneness.

    Meanwhile, heat marinade in saucepan to boiling. Reduce heat to low; simmer 3 minutes, stirring frequently. To serve, cut steak diagonally into thin slices; serve heated marinade over steak.

    Place steak on broiler pan. Pour marinade into 1-quart saucepan; set aside. Broil steak 2 to 4 inches from heat 4 to 6 minutes. Turn steak; top with onion rings. Broil 3 to 5 minutes longer or until of desired doneness.
