Chocolate Cake with Strawberries

When it comes to St. Valentine's Day, chocolate is definitely my go-to ingredient. I love gifting bonbons, cookies, flans and even cakes! This chocolate cake recipe makes a perfect St. Valentine’s Day gift. Enjoy!

Ingredients

Cake ingredients:

  • 1 box of Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ dark chocolate cake mix
  • 1 package (3.9 ozs) of chocolate pudding
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup of canola oil
  • 1 1/4 cups of water

Frosting ingredients:

  • 1 package (8 ozs) of semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/4 cup of heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup of butter, cut into small pieces
  • Whole strawberries, to taste

Directions

    Cake instructions: Heat the oven to 350°F. Sprinkle a 9-inch cake mold with flour.

    Mix all the ingredients with a hand mixer at medium speed. Pour the mixture into the mold and bake for 1 hour. Use a knife or a toothpick to poke the cake, if it comes out clean you can take it out of the oven.

    Let cool and spread the frosting. Decorate with strawberries or raspberries.

    Frosting instructions: Place all the ingredients to melt in a Bain Marie and mix until everything has melted and has a soft consistency. Pour over the cake immediately so it becomes firm.

Expert Tips

  • You can also place all the frosting ingredients in a microwavable container and melt in 30-second intervals, mixing well in between, until completely melted.
