En una ollita de 1 cuarto de galón, calienta el azúcar morena, la maicena y el jugo de naranja, hasta que hiervan, a fuego medio alto, revolviendo con frecuencia. Hierve y revuelve de 1 a 2 minutos o hasta que el jarabe esté ligeramente espeso y la mezcla esté clara. Retira del fuego; añade los gajos de naranja. Mantén todo caliente.

Calienta la wafflera. (Las waffleras sin recubrimiento antiadherente pueden necesitar que untes aceite vegetal o que rocíes spray para cocinar.) En un tazón mediano, mezcla los ingredientes para los waffles, con un batidor de alambre o con un tenedor, hasta mezclar bien.

Para cada waffle, vierte pasta en el centro de la wafflera. (Consulta las indicaciones del fabricante respecto a la cantidad de pasta recomendada.) Cierra la tapa de la wafflera. Hornea de 3 a 5 minutos o hasta que ya no salga vapor. Con cuidado, saca el waffle.
