Sweet potatoes are one of my family’s favorite vegetables. They’re slightly sweet, which is why my children love them, and I like cooking them because of their nutritional value. Today, I want to show you one of the easiest ways to prepare sweet potatoes with Caribbean spices. You can come up with your own mix of spices or if you want to make it easier, you can just buy a mix of spices at the supermarket. Caribbean flavors are perfect with sweet and salty dishes. Usually, you can just find the spices at the supermarket as Caribbean jerk seasonings. Give them a try!

Ingredients

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 3 to 4 teaspoons Caribbean spices
  • 2 tablespoons oil

Directions

  • 1
Preheat the oven to 425° F.
  • 2
Wash and peel the sweet potatoes. Cut into 1/4” thick slices. Then, cut each slice in half.
  • 3
Mix the sweet potatoes with the oil and Caribbean spices until all the slices are well-seasoned.
  • 4
Put a layer on a baking tray, making sure the slices don’t overlap.
  • 5
Bake for 15 minutes or until they’re cooked. Leave them aside for a few minutes and serve immediately.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
You can change the presentation of the dish by chopping the sweet potatoes in different shapes, like squares or sticks.
  • tip 2
Caribbean spices can vary depending on the ingredients. Most of them are a bit sweet, so if you want something spicier, you can add some cayenne pepper to the mix.
