Summer is around the corner and strawberries are everywhere. And they are such a versatile fruit! You can make strawberry preserves, cake, mouse, puree, and so much more! Margarita is one of my favorite summer drinks… especially when prepared with strawberries!

Ingredients

For the strawberry syrup:

  • 2 cups strawberries, rinsed and diced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

For each drink:

  • A little less than 1/4 cup tequila
  • 3 tablespoons triple sec
  • 1/2 cup strawberry syrup
  • A splash of fresh squeeze orange juice (if you want your strawberry margarita to be red, use natural oranges)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • Ice, to taste
  • Strawberries to garnish

Directions

    For the strawberry syrup: To make the simple syrup, add all of the ingredients in a pot and bring to boil for 10 to 15 minutes. Drain into a jar or pot and reserve in the fridge. You can save the strawberry puree to use in smoothies or sauces.

    For the drinks: Add all the ingredients in a cocktail shaker, shake vigorously for two minutes, strain the liquid into a margarita glass half full with ice.

    Garnish with strawberries. Enjoy!

    You can use these same ingredients to make frozen strawberries margaritas, simply add all in a blender with ice plus a couple of fresh strawberries for a burst of extra flavor, blend and serve.
