My husband likes to barbeque ribs, chicken or Argentine asados every weekend. I like giving BBQ sauces my own personal touch; I always just make them up. This time I had a peach jam in the cupboard because I wanted to prepare some scones or muffins with, but because it is very hot I have not felt encouraged to turn on the oven. So I decided to prepare this sauce with a spicy touch with using the jam.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 cup peach jam
  • 1 (15 oz) jar of peaches in juice, diced
  • 4 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

  • 1
Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic and mix well for a few seconds; allow it to crystallize without scorching.
  • 2
Add remaining ingredients and 2 cups water, cooking until soft and tender. Blend and throw it back in the pan, lower the heat to low and let thicken for about 35 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning.
  • 3
Remove from heat, let cool, then store it in the refrigerator until ready for use.
  • 4
Pack the remaining sauce in glass jars with airtight lid.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
You can use fresh peppers or any other spicy sauce instead of Sriracha.
  • tip 2
You can also use your favorite jam instead of peach.
