How to Make Flan
Peruvian Arroz con Pollo
tablespoons butter or margarine
bag (10.5 oz) miniature marshmallows (6 cups)
cups Cheerios™ cereal
Spray the bottom and the sides of a 13x9-inch pan with cooking spray.
Place the butter and marshmallows in a large microwavable bowl. Microwave uncovered on High for about 2 minutes, stirring after each minute, until the mixture is smooth. With pot holders, remove the bowl from the microwave.
Immediately stir in the cereal until it is evenly coated. Pour the cereal mixture into the pan. With the buttered back of a spoon, press the mixture in the pan until it is even. Cool at least 10 minutes.
With a table knife, cut the cereal mixture into 6 rows by 4 rows to make 24 bars. Store the bars in a loosely covered container.
Pour a bunch of marshmallows on the table or counter and have your child figure out how many fit in one cup.
