One of my families most anticipated celebrations is the 4th of July. We love getting together with family and friends to enjoy a tasty dinner while we watch the kids play. And because every reunion is sure to have a great spread of delicious foods I'm already imaging the menu of grilled beef, burgers, hot dogs, salads and lots of fruits. I've always liked having fruits around, whether they're sliced, in fruit cocktails or in fresh water. I love having fruit at the kid's table so they can stop by whenever they want a refreshing and sweet treat. Every year I'm left with a lot of left over fruits because I tend to buy a lot, especially strawberries and blueberries, so that I can use them later. Today I'm sharing with you my solution to all that extra fresh fruit. My family loves the combination of fruit and yogurt and it's fun to create your own combinations. For example, key lime pie yogurt with blue berries or vanilla with apples, the combinations are unlimited. All you have to do is put the fruit, yogurt and granola on the table and let everyone make their own. These parfaits are the perfect dessert, light breakfast or midday snack. I hope you like it!

Ingredients

  • 4 strawberries
  • 1/2 cup of blueberries
  • 1 nectarine or peach
  • 1 apple
  • 4 packages (1.5 oz) of Nature Valley™ Oats 'n Honey Crunchy Granola Bars
  • 2 (6 oz each) Yoplait® Original French vanilla yogurt
  • 1 (6 oz) Yoplait® Original 99% Fat Free cherry orchard yogurt
  • 1 (6 oz) Yoplait® Original 99% Fat Free Orange crème Yogurt
  • 1 (6 oz) Yoplait® Original 99% Fat Free Key lime pie yogurt

Directions

  • 1
Wash the strawberries, blueberries, nectarine or peaches and the apple. In the meantime, take the granola bars and use a food processor to grind them. If you don't have a food processor, I recommend putting them in a plastic bag and using a rolling pin or something heavy to break down the granola. I used the second method and it only took me a few seconds to break them up.
  • 2
Chop the fresh fruits and remove the stems. Cut up the peaches or nectarine and dice the apples. Set aside.
  • 3
Take a glass and add one layer of strawberries, cover in a layer of strawberry yogurt and cover with granola. Add another layer of strawberries, cover with vanilla yogurt and finish with a layer of granola.
  • 4
Take a second glass and use the process to combine the nectarines with orange cream. In a third glass combine key lime pie with blueberries and in a fourth glass combine vanilla with apple. You can even create your own combinations.
  • 5
In the ingredients I mentioned 2 vanilla yogurts because I realized I could combine vanilla yogurt with another flavor, this made my parfaits more colorful. My favorite combination was vanilla and strawberry yogurt with strawberries. What's your favorite?

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
Wash and cut the fruit ahead of time and place in a sealed container, this way you can prepare the parfaits at any time.
