Friday night is synonymous with home cooking in my house. It's the best time to relax after a busy week, and spend some down time preparing a tasty, quick and easy dish: and maybe even get the whole family involved in the preparation. Mom kneads the dough, Dad stretches it and the kids take care of the ingredients. Now that's what I call teamwork! The experience of preparing homemade pizza is very stimulating because of the contact with different textures, the aroma of the ingredients, the dough leavening and then baking in the oven, the variety of colors… it's a process that awakens the senses and improves the mood. This recipe in particular is a type of pizza with many ingredients that's prepared in Argentina. I invite you to try it at home and delight your family!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • Salt, to taste
  • 1 package active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • Pizza sauce (with oregano)
  • 1/2 pound cooked ham
  • 1/2 pound mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup green olives
  • 2 boiled eggs
  • 1 red bell pepper

Directions

  • 1
    Preheat oven to 320° F.
  • 2
Mix the flour with the salt, and then add the yeast (don't mix it all together because you should avoid putting the salt in contact with the yeast).
  • 3
Add the warm water and oil bit by bit while mixing until you have a uniform dough.
  • 4
Let rise in a bowl for about 30 minutes, covered with a cloth and set aside in a warm place.
  • 5
Once the half hour has passed, the dough should have risen almost double in size. Remove from the bowl and place on a surface with a little flour. Stretch the dough just a bit with a rolling pin.
  • 6
Place the dough on the pizza pan (large tray) and finish stretching to form the pizza.
  • 7
Brush with sauce and place in the oven at 320° F (preheated) for about 15 minutes.
  • 8
Remove and add more sauce if desired. Distribute the ham, cheese, olives, egg and pepper cut into strips.
  • 9
Place the pizza in the oven for just a few minutes, until the cheese has melted.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
If you prefer your dough a bit crispier, don't brush it with sauce before placing it in the oven; wait until it's cooked before putting the desired amount.
  • tip 2
If you prefer the dough more soft and spongy, before putting it in the oven, put a little oil on your hands and stretch the dough. It will be delicious!
  • tip 3
For an extra touch of flavor, grate a clove of garlic over the dough before adding the ingredients.
