Expert Tips

Let your children help you prepare the bars and have fun combining different ingredients, like raisins or chocolate chips, instead of the dried fruit.

Homemade cereal bars are the best for school! Since they’re easy to carry, they’re ideal for the children’s lunchboxes, for an afternoon snack or for sport practice. My favorite bars are “Cereal Bars with Peanut Butter, Honey and Cranberries”. They’re so easy to prepare, they don’t need to be put in the oven, the mix makes several portions and they’re naturally sweetened. I hope that you enjoy these delicious bars as much as my family and I do!

Directions

  • 1 Lightly grease an 8” square mold.
  • 2 In a bowl, mix the Cheerios™, cranberries and peanuts.
  • 3 In a pan, heat the honey and the peanut butter, constantly stirring until it forms a consistent mix. Remove the pan from the stove and let it cool.
  • 4 Pour the peanut butter and honey mix on the dry cereal mix. Stir until the ingredients are mixed well.
  • 5 Place the mix in the greased mold and firmly press on it until it forms a compact surface.
  • 6 Let the mix completely cool before cutting it into bars, to avoid breaking them apart.
  • 7 Cut the bars to the desired size and they’ll be ready to be enjoyed.
