Full of magic… there’s no better way to describe what most people know as the “happiest place on Earth.” As soon as you set foot in Disneyland, you feel a special atmosphere in the air, especially if you visit during Christmas.
Disneyland is probably one of the best-decorated places in Southern California. I was lucky enough to visit when more than 300,000 lights were lit to officially announce the start of the holiday season. That night I visited two attractions that completely transform during Christmas: It’s a Small World and The Haunted Mansion.
You’ll also notice decorations in the neighboring theme park, Disney California Adventure. It perfectly recreates a Christmas from the ‘20s, when Walt Disney first settled in our region. One of its best attractions is the charming Cars Land, where the animated movie characters come to life.
If you’ve been reading my columns, you’ll know that I seek out the culinary discoveries of every new place I visit. So I can’t fail to mention the yummy Mickey Mouse pretzels and the seasonal treats of hot chocolate, apple cider, macaroons and biscottis that I enjoyed during my time here.
In Disneyland and California Adventure, Christmas isn’t over until January 6, 2012… So you have plenty of time to check out its lovely decorations, take your picture with cute Disney characters, enjoy live shows and, why not, appreciate the scrumptious foods of the park. The happiest place on Earth just got merrier!
