I’m a Venezuelan blogger and graphic designer, currently living in San Diego, CA. I grew up in a very large family and every one of my aunts did a lot of cooking. Our family get-togethers were always filled with delicious dishes. After starting my graphic design career in Caracas, I moved to Mexico City, where I practiced my profession while absorbing a new culture and new customs. Three years later, I did the same thing when I arrived in the United States, where I currently live. I have always loved to travel and get to know different places and cultures. Today, my family is also multicultural, as I married an American. And when it comes to cooking, I also try to mix a little of my Venezuelan flavor and my creativity with new flavors! In my bilingual blog MamiTalks, I share anecdotes about being a mom, ideas, crafts and events, as well as lots of photos.

I come from a large family, on my mom’s side, and all my aunts do a lot of cooking, each having her own specialty. My mom is not as crazy about cooking as they are, but the good thing is that, in spite of this, I learned a lot and tried many tasty foods as a result of my family’s cooking expertise.

Centerpiece: Celebrating the Arrival of Spring

When spring arrives so nice and colorful, we want to feel the same ambiance inside our homes as well. That’s why we many times fill and decorate the house with centerpieces made of flower or fruit arrangements.

Aprons for your Little Chefs

Children love creating art and feeling productive, so instead of giving them paper to draw on (which is what I usually do), I often come up with a new activity so they can create something more useful to give as a gift or keep for themselves.

Bowl Decoration

Plate painting is a very useful craft project for everyone at home. I decided to paint bowls because it’s what we mostly use in my house, whether it’s for cereals, soups, a mix of rice and beans, a salad or, well… a thousand other things! They’re a life saver!
