Expert Tips

This dessert makes an excellent gift. You can arrange the brittle in a nice box, or glass container. Add a bow, paper or fake flowers.

Part of what makes Thanksgiving so special is the opportunity it provides to reflect and give thanks for the blessings we have received throughout the year. One such blessing is the gathering of friends and family members in one place to enjoy delicious dishes and desserts. At my house, in addition to preparing a dinner spread, I set up a dessert table with traditional Thanksgiving sweet treats alongside some of my favorite Latin ones. The table also fills up with gifts from aunts and friends who bring their favorite Hispanic dessert recipes to savor and share. In this same spirit of giving, I like to prepare small party favors for my guests to take home with them. This white chocolate brittle with Cheerios™ and almonds is an excellent addition to my dessert menu and a great gift option.

Directions

  • 1 Pour the chocolate chips in a glass (microwave-safe) bowl and heat in the microwave for 1 minute. Re-move and stir with a spoon until all the chocolate is melted and has a uniform consistency.
  • 2 On a tray lined with wax paper, pour the melted white chocolate and spread it out in the shape of a rectangle.
  • 3 Sprinkle chocolate with Apple Cinnamon Cheerios™ cereal, whole almonds and the ground cinnamon.
  • 4 Set the tray in the refrigerator for 5 minutes until the chocolate has hardened and formed a bar.
  • 5 To serve, break the chocolate bar into pieces with your hands and arrange the brittle on a platter. Enjoy!
