Expert Tips

Try using white, milk or dark chocolate as you like.

Since my family loves to go camping, I'm always challenging myself to create simple snacks that are easy to pack, with the sabores they all enjoy. With this in mind I've created a recipe for you all that's ideal for camping; it's quick to make, without any fuss. And who doesn't like chocolate, trail mix or Cheerios™? I invite you to try out this rico alternative to typical camping food. Let's cook!

Directions

  • 1 First place the pieces of dark bakers chocolate into a microwave-safe bowl. Melt in the microwave little-by-little at 20-second intervals to avoid burning. (Every microwave differs in temperature.) Make sure to stir between intervals; when your chocolate reaches a smooth consistency it's ready. If you like, you can use a bain marie to melt your chocolate as well.
  • 2 When ready, transfer your chocolate to a re-sealable plastic bag. This will serve as a piping bag when you cut-off one of the corners.
  • 3 Next, cover a baking sheet with waxed paper. Cut one corner of your chocolate piping bag and draw 20 small circles (filled) over the waxed paper. Place a bit of trail mix and Cheerios™over the center of each chocolate circle.
  • 4 Finally, refrigerate the tray of chocolates for 5 to 10 minutes or until hardened. Store your finished chocolates in a plastic container for easy transportation to camp.
