Ingredients

  • 2 lb raw shrimp
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 10-12 bacon slices
  • 1/2 cup brandy or yellow rum

Directions

  • 1
Peel, devein, and wash the shrimp. Arrange on a paper towel to dry. You can leave the tail on if you’d like.
  • 2
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Don’t forget the bacon will add even more flavor to the dish.
  • 3
Slice the strips of bacon in half, wrap a strip around each shrimp, and keep the bacon in place with a toothpick.
  • 4
Heat a frying pan over medium-high heat and cook the shrimp for approximately 2 minutes on each side. Heat the brandy in another container. Remove the frying pan from the heat, add the brandy, and very carefully, set the liquor on fire. Let evaporate.
  • 5
Serve with pasta or a side salad, and enjoy.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
Instead of frying, bake the shrimp at 450° F for 5 minutes on each side. Be careful not to overcook the shrimp.
  • tip 2
Swap out the shrimp for large scallops, or combine scallops with the shrimp.
