I love everything about Christmas. I appreciate this time of year and all the widely used customs that Christmas brings out in people. But all those who know me know that I'm not really a traditionalist; that is, I still like to put my own tiny twist on things sometimes. For example, take Christmas cookies. I love the way most folks like to give them away in metal tins or on plates. It's such a thoughtful gift and so meaningful because one makes it by hand with love and care. I've done this myself many years; and let me say that you could feel how much people appreciate the thought of personally baked cookies. This year, though, I've decided to try a little something different and wrap my cookies in a more "gift-wrapy" kind of way. It's simple: I used wax paper because nothing sticks to it and it's a charming transparent paper that adds a little extra special-looking package of cookies. It makes for a great Christmas gift idea and it's a fun homemade project.
