Sesame seeds give dishes a special flavor. In this recipe, it works as a sort of “breading” for the tuna steaks. These steaks are very easy to make, and they’re ready in less than half an hour. I suggest you look for high quality tuna steaks. Tuna is only browned on the sides and you can’t leave it in the oil for long because it can overcook easily. The corners should turn beige as the center stays pink. Serve with fresh salad.

Ingredients

  • 2 tuna steaks, 4 oz. each
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder to taste
  • 6 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 1/4 cup oil

Directions

  • 1
Put the steaks on a dish. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder on both sides.
  • 2
Take one of the steaks and cover them with sesame seeds, pressing with your fingers so the seeds stick to each side. Do it with the other steak.
  • 3
Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Fry one of the steaks carefully for about 1 minute on each side and 15 seconds on the edges. Do the same with the second steak.
  • 4
    Slice and serve immediately.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
You can mix white and black sesame seeds.
  • tip 2
If you want, you can take the tuna out about 20 minutes before cooking, so they get to room temperature. This will make the sesame seeds taste better.
