Expert Tips

If a dark pumpkin-style beer is not available, add 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, a pinch of nutmeg and ground cloves to the mixture.

In my home country, Chile, it's traditional to mix dark varieties of beer, such as malt with condensed milk to create a refreshing and deliciosa drink. During the Thanksgiving season, I especially like to select beer with pumpkin or spices to bring a special toque of autumn to the table.

Try using a small cookie cutter dipped in cinnamon to decorate the surface of this beverage before serving.

Directions

  • 1 First select the cups desired for serving and add some ground cinnamon to a flat plate. Then ‘paint’ the rim of each glass with a bit of corn or maple syrup. To complete, dip the glass edge of each cup into the ground cinnamon.
  • 2 Chill the decorated cups in the fridge while preparing the beer.
  • 3 To create the drinks, pour the beer and condensed milk into a food processor or blender. Process until evenly mixed. Finally, sample the mixture and add more condensed milk if you desire a sweeter beverage.
  • 4 Refrigerate until well chilled and serve in the prepared glasses. Salud!
