This pumpkin and potato baby food recipe is a great introduction to solid food for your baby. I recommend starting with a soft creamy texture that you can make thicker as your baby gets accustomed to it.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb of pumpkin cut into cubes
  • 1 medium potato peeled (Yukon or Russet)
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt (optional)

Directions

  • 1
Wash the pumpkin and potato well.
  • 2
Heat the water, salt, pumpkin and potato in a pot. Cook until well cooked and soft.
  • 3
Blend the pumpkin and potato with two tablespoons of the water they were cooked in. If necessary, add a bit more water.
  • 4
Serve warm, never too hot, to avoid burning the baby's mouth.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
You can use seedless green or yellow squash instead of pumpkin.
  • tip 2
You can add half a carrot or half a cup of well-cooked lean meat or boiled chicken breast. You can also add half a teaspoon of olive oil when blending.
