Pisco Sour is much more than a traditional South American drink – its history and recipe are linked to a battle between neighbors. Both Chile and Peru dispute each other’s claim to the original creation of the Pisco Sour. Though we might never learn the truth, what we do know for a fact is that this is a sweet, unusual and refreshing drink – something worth fighting over. What’s more, the Pisco Sour is a very versatile drink. It’s perfect for any occasion, from a casual get-together with friends to a more formal event. So whatever the occasion, if you want to impress your guests, make this delicious drink. In less than 10 minutes, you’ll have a tasty cocktail and an even more enjoyable party.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of Pisco
  • 1/3 cup of fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup of water
  • 1/2 cup of white sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 6 ice cubes
  • Amargo bitters

Directions

  • 1
In a small pot, boil the water and add sugar, until it becomes a light honey. Set is aside to let it cool off.
  • 2
Squeeze approximately two limes to obtain 1/3 cup of lime juice, and set it aside.
  • 3
Before you begin mixing the ingredients, you first have to separate the egg white from the yolk. This is easy but, much like everything else may require a little patience. The easiest way is to tap the egg on the side of a bowl. When it’s a bit cracked, finish breaking it with your fingers and move the yolk from one place to the other, making sure it doesn’t break.
  • 4
Now that everything is ready, we can start mixing. In a blender, mix the Pisco, the lime juice, the sugar syrup that you made previously and the egg white. Process for 10 seconds. Add ice cubes and blend for four seconds more. The egg white will top the drink with a white froth.
  • 5
Take the glass out of the freezer and pour the mix from the blender into the frosty glass.
  • 6
Add a few drops of amargo bitter in the middle of the froth.
  • 7
And there you have it: a delicious Pisco Sour, ready for any occasion.
