There's nothing more sabroso than real fruit marmalade, made from scratch at home as was more common years ago. I remember how excited I always was growing up when the smell of boiling, sweet fruit would fill the air; it announced that we would soon be enjoying marmalade, a delightfully sweet treat. With this in mind, last week I decided to prepare my own pineapple marmalade. It's super easy to make, yields many servings and is simply deliciosa. You can eat it for breakfast with toast, package it in jars or spread it on soda crackers. There are so many options, but one thing's for sure: this recipe is riquísima! Be inspired and try it today. Enjoy!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 cloves, whole
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 large pineapple, peeled and finely chopped
  • Juice from 1/2 lemon
  • Sugar, to taste

Directions

  • 1
Put the water in a saucepan to boil. Add the cloves, cinnamon stick and a pinch of salt.
  • 2
While the water comes to a boil, finely chop the pineapple.
  • 3
Once the water has been brought to a boil, add the finely chopped pineapple and lemon juice. Incorporate the sugar, beating constantly to prevent the mix from sticking to the sides and bottom of the pan. Cook the pineapple blend over medium heat (continue stirring) for 20 minutes, or until a homogenous mix has formed.
  • 4
Let cool, and serve or package.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
    Serve on fresh, warm bread.
  • tip 2
To chop the pinapple, you can use a food processor to obtain a more homogenous mix. Personally, I like a few small, whole pieces of fruit in my marmalade.
