Expert Tips

If you're using smoked pork chops, add the bones to the soup to give it more sabor. Remove the bones before serving.

Directions

  • 1 In a medium-sized pot over medium heat, lightly fry the pieces of pork until golden brown, for approximately 3-5 minutes. Add the onion and let cook until the onion is transparent.
  • 2 Add the peas, carrots and vegetable broth; mix well. Taste and season with more salt and pepper, if necessary.
  • 3 Reduce the heat to low, cover and let cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes, or until the peas have softened. Remove from heat.
  • 4 Garnish with chopped cilantro, if you wish, and serve hot.

Green pea soup with pork chops reminds me of my childhood, since my mom used to prepare this meal frequently. One thing's for sure: the pea soup is satisfying. Just one serving hits the spot! You can add other veggies, but with just 5 ingredients and a few minutes, you can offer your family a deliciosa meal. ¡Buen provecho!
