Expert Tips

The cranberries can be prepared up to 3 days prior. Keep them refrigerated.

At midnight on December 24th, in my house we usually toast at midnight to being together before we immediately start opening gifts and continue the Christmas celebration. This simple drink will bring colorful happiness to your festivities.

You can use any white sparkling drink: Champagne, Prosecco, Muscat, etc.

Directions

  • 1 The day before serving the drink, mix together the water and sugar in a small pot to marinate the cranberries.
  • 2 Cook at medium heat stirring until the water completely evaporates. It should be warm; do not bring to a boil. Add the cranberries and let cool. Refrigerate over night.
  • 3 Take out 12 cranberries and let sit for a bit, and then roll in the sugar until completely covered; allow to dry on a dish. Use 3 cranberries on each skewer (cut skewer to suit glass).
  • 4 Peel the prickly pears and, using a melon scoop, make 12 balls. Place 3 in each cup and about 6 marinated cranberries.
  • 5 Pour the Muscat on the fruits. Serve immediately. Cheers!
