Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon of water
  • 12 wonton wrapper
  • 6 mozzarella sticks, cut in half
  • 4 cups of vegetable or frying oil
  • 1 cup of marinara sauce (optional)

Directions

  • 1
Mix the egg and water in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • 2
Take a wonton roll and place it in front of you so that it looks like a diamond (not a square). Brush the surface with the egg mixture. Place half of one mozzarella stick in the middle. Fold the sides over the cheese. Roll up until you have a cylinder. Pinch the ends to make sure the cheese doesn't come out when fried. Repeat until you’re finished.
  • 3
Add the oil to a small, but deep pot and heat until it reaches 325°F.
  • 4
Fry the rolls in threes for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown. Place over paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  • 5
Serve with marinara sauce, if you like.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
When you're frying the rolls do so carefully because they brown quickly and can easily burn.
