Soccer is a big deal for us Latinos, and every four years we get to show our colors and root for our favorite team at the biggest soccer event in the world. This is also a wonderful opportunity to put together soccer viewing parties for your most important matches and invite your friends and family to partake in the fun. This idea is one of my favorites because it’s fun, simple and incredibly versatile. You can create the flags to match the teams that will be playing the night of your gathering. Even the kids can help because there’s no baking necessary! Get in the game with these easy-to-follow steps.

Ingredients

  • Frosting (powdered sugar and water)
  • Colorful shredded coconut or colored sugar in various colors to suit your needs
  • Square or rectangular cookies

Directions

  • 1
Mix until the frosting ingredients are thick. Every 100 grams of sugar requires 1 teaspoon of water. Spread the glaze on the cookies to cover the surface completely and let sit until it has spread evenly.
  • 2
Use a knife to mold the borders of the cookies and remove the excess glaze to create a perfect rectangle.
  • 3
While the frosting is still wet, sprinkle the cookie with the shredded coconut or sugar to create your desired flag. Apply a bit a pressure with your fingertips to make sure it sticks.
  • 4
    Let dry.
