One simple and delicious way to spruce up the traditional mojito we all love is with hibiscus flower. It’s truly delicious! This cocktail has the beautiful, bright and colorful appearance of the hibiscus flower.

Ingredients

  • 20 mint leaves
  • Sugar to taste
  • 2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 4 oz rum
  • 3 oz dried hibiscus flowers
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 1/2 cups of sparkling water, adjust to taste

Directions

    Boil two cups of water in a pot. Add the hibiscus flowers. Lower the heat and let simmer without covering for about 20 to 30 minutes or until becomes deep red in color.

    Strain and get rid of the flowers. Add the sugar and stir until it dissolves. Let cool completely.

    Add the mint leaves to a jar and mash them with a cocktail masher.
  • 4
    Add the rum, lemon juice and hibiscus water. Mix well and taste. Adjust the rum and sugar to taste. Add ice and then add the mineral water and mix.

    Alcohol free version: Prepare this drink without the rum by simple replacing it with mineral water or sparkling lemonade.
