Making fruit pizzas is a great baking project for families. Kids love to be part of the decorating process. This Independence Day, prebake these fruit pizza crusts and have the kids spend the holiday having fun decorating their own patriotic fruit pizza with blueberries and bright red strawberries. Ingredients

  • 1 (16.5 oz) package shortbread cookie dough
  • 1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, at room temperature
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup blueberries, rinsed
  • 9 medium strawberries, rinsed, hulled and halved

    Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • 2
    In a 9-inch non-stick pie pan, spread shortbread cookie dough with hands. Evenly push the dough on the bottom of the pan and up the sides, forming a 1/2-inch crust. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until dough is golden. Remove from oven and let cool.

    In a medium bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with a hand mixer. Spread the mixture evenly over baked cookie dough.

    Arrange halved strawberries around crust and on the center of prepared cookie pizza. Add blueberries, arranging them by filling in spaces and gently pushing them onto the cream cheese mixture. Add remaining blueberries on the center of the fruit pizza.

    Refrigerate for at least 20 minutes before serving.
