Easy Patriotic Cake for the 4th of July

Summer is here! This time of year, the weather can be so hot that we don’t want to spend too much time in the kitchen. Which is why, today I bring you this simple idea for a patriotic cake perfect for celebrating the 4th of July. It’s not only easy to make and perfect for the occasion, but also delicious! Happy 4th of July!

Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ White Cake Mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup Yoplait® Greek plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • Red and blue food coloring, to taste
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk (optional)

Directions

    Preheat oven to 350° F. Use nonstick spray to grease a Bundt baking mold.

    In a medium size bowl add cake mix, eggs, yogurt, milk and oil. Mix until everything is well combined. Add 1 cup of this mixture into a separate container and add red food coloring until you have the desired amount of red. Repeat the same process with the blue food coloring.

    In a previously greased mold, add red cake mix until it covers the bottom. Add the white mix and finish with blue.

    Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a knife inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean. Let cool for 10 minutes. Remove from mold and let cool completely.

    For the icing, combine powdered sugar and milk until you have the right texture.

    Cover cake with icing and serve.
