Expert Tips

For a classic "adults only" flavor, stir 1 or 2 teaspoons of sherry or cognac into the soup before you top it with the cheese croutons.

Directions

  • 1 Move oven rack 6 to 8 inches from broiler element. Heat oven to 425°F. Microwave rolls about 5 seconds or until partially thawed. Cut each roll in half. Place roll halves, cut sides down, on cookie sheet. Bake 3 to 5 minutes or until light golden brown. Remove from oven. Set oven temperature to broil.
  • 2 In 1 1/2-quart saucepan, heat soup over medium-high heat until hot. In small bowl, stir together cheeses. Place 2 (15-oz) ovenproof bowls on cookie sheet. Ladle soup into bowls. Place 2 roll halves, cut sides up, in each bowl. Sprinkle cheese mixture onto rolls.
  • 3 Broil 3 to 5 inches from heat 1 to 3 minutes or until cheese is bubbly. Carefully transfer bowls to serving plates.
