Expert Tips

Prepare different flavored margaritas by adding 1 cup of your favorite fruit to the blender.

Directions

  • 1 Put the ice, tequila, triple sec and lemon juice in a blender and blend until smooth like a slushy.
  • 2 Run a lime wedge along the rim of the glasses you be serving the margaritas in. Pour some of the margarita salt out onto a small plate and dip the rim of each glass in the salt to line.
  • 3 Pour the margarita mix into the glass and garnish with remaining lime wedges.

Among the most popular cocktails in Los Angeles, a place with so much Mexican influence that celebrates cultural diversity, is the Margarita. To take advantage of the plethora of Mexican restaurants in L.A., I make it a point to sample and try different Mexican dishes and drinks each time I go out. Fortunately, I’ve found some marvelous places that have hit the spot and I've even learned how to prepare many of these meals. Without a doubt, one of the basic cocktails that my Mexican friends have taught me to prepare is the "classic" margarita. It's a refreshing drink that's served in all kinds of celebrations. Below is my favorite of all the cocktail recipes I've learned over time, shared by one of my barman friends. Enjoy!
