Chilcano is the Peruvian cocktail that’s easiest and quickest to make. You just need to mix a few ingredients and it’s all done! As I always tell every one of my friends, pisco drinks are delicious, but be careful because they tend to appear innocent, but can sometimes be deceptive. Much like everything else, you should enjoy them in moderation.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz pisco
  • 2 oz Pisco or clear brandy
  • 2 drops bitters
  • 4 ice cubes
  • ginger ale, to taste
  • 1 lime wedge

Directions

    In a tall glass, place the pisco, the ice, the drops bitters and the lime wedge. Fill with very chilled ginger ale, mix with a bar spoon and serve.

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
    Instead of ginger ale soda, add: 1 oz. orange juice, tamarind juice, cinnamon infusion, herb infusion or 1 oz simple syrup and then fill the glass with soda.
  • tip 2
    Having the ingredients ready in advance will make this recipe very easy and quick. A chilcano is ready in a matter of minutes.
  • tip 3
    You may garnish with: fresh golden berries, orange peel, huacatay leaves or cinnamon sticks.
  • tip 4
    It is served prior to serving the meal, with several appetizers.
