Expert Tips

You can use white vinegar instead of balsamic.

You can also use red onions if you prefer (they're a little spicier) or substitute the goat cheese with cream cheese or you preferred cheese, as long as it's creamy.

If your husband likes watching football, he probably likes watching it in your living room with his friends. And like a good hostess, you can surprise them with delicious snacks like these delicious canapés with goat cheese and caramelized onions. I'm sure they'll love them!

Directions

  • 1 Cut the onions into slices. Heat the oil in a saucepan. Add the onions to the saucepan and cook over medium heat until caramelized.
  • 2 Add brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to the onions and mix well. Cook at look heat until the sugar has dissolved completely.
  • 3 Spread the cheese onto the bread and top off every canapé with a teaspoon of caramelized onions. Serve the onions warm or at room temperature.
