Expert Tips

"Lite" creamy Caesar dressing will reduce the fat but not the flavor in this recipe. Also try all-skim mozzarella cheese to reduce the fat and calories even more.

A bowl of piping-hot Minestrone with Italian Sausage (page 31) and a loaf of this cheesy bread make mealtime a snap.

A quick way to add a boost of flavor and color is to sprinkle the hot cheese with chopped fresh basil or parsley just before serving.

Directions

  • 1 Heat oven to 450°F. On ungreased cookie sheet, place bread, cut sides up. Spread dressing on cut sides of bread. Top with cheese.
  • 2 Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until cheese is melted and edges begin to brown. Cut into slices. Serve immediately.
