Since before they could eat all forms of solids, my babies have enjoyed mama’s berry good spinach smoothie on a weekly basis. Packed with many nutrients and natural sweetness from the trio of berries, this smoothie is the perfect quick breakfast for people of all ages. I’m sure the pickiest of your eaters will enjoy this recipe! If your kids are adventurous, try adding slightly more spinach, to boost the nutrients. Not regular orange juice drinkers? Keep some orange juice concentrate (make sure it’s 100% juice) in the freezer and combine with water. The tart of the orange juice works wonders to mask the flavors of spinach.

Ingredients

  • 1-2 cups spinach, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup blueberries, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup raspberries, frozen or fresh
  • 1/2 cup strawberries, frozen or fresh
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • Ice, if necessary

Directions

  • 1
Throw everything in a blender. Enjoy!

Expert Tips

  • tip 1
If using fresh spinach, try blending it well with the orange juice before adding additional ingredients to break it down as completely as possible.
  • tip 2
Depending on the ratio of fresh to frozen ingredients you are using, you may want to add a few cubes of ice to create a thick smoothie consistency.
  • tip 3
Also, if serving to picky eaters (or kids!), adding a banana will further mask the spinach flavor.
