Expert Tips

Keep some of this sauce refrigerated and use in other meat recipes.

I remember that each time we had the chance to visit the United States; my mom would always order a big plate of barbeque chicken. According to her, the taste of this food is absolutely irresistible, so she could never pass up the chance to enjoy it. Once we returned to Colombia, I searched high and low for a simple version of a dish I mistakenly assumed was complicate. Luckily, I found the recipe I’m sharing with you today. You won’t believe it, but in just a couple of steps you can prepare this delicious dish and I know that once you’ve tried it, barbeque chicken will become one of your family’s favorites.

Directions

  • 1 Season the pieces of chicken with salt and pepper to taste.
  • 2 Heat the grill or the oven broiler, letting the chicken cook on both sides. Grill the chicken on medium-high heat until cooked, 3 to 4 minutes per side. Or broil until cooked, 20 to 25 minutes, turning the chicken once during this time.
  • 3 To make the sauce, mix the rest of the ingredients in a deep container.
  • 4 Set aside a bit of this sauce to serve with the chicken.
  • 5 Remove the chicken from the oven, check for doneness, and use a kitchen brush to cover the chicken with the sauce.
  • 6 Finish cooking the chicken on the grill or in the oven, if needed.
  • 7 Serve the pieces of chicken on a tray and add more sauce.
