One ingredient that can always be found in my kitchen is cheese. Shredded, sliced, whole… whatever the case may be, I always try to have a good amount of this dairy product in the fridge. Ingredients

  • 4 slices of sandwich bread
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • 1 green apple
  • Mustard to taste
  • 8 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 4 slices of smoked ham

Directions

    Wash the apple well and cut into very thin slices.
  • 2
    Melt the butter in a saucepan and fry the slices of apple until they're nice and soft.
  • 3
    Heat a griddle or sandwich maker. If you don't have either of these appliances, you can use a large saucepan.

    Apply mustard to each slice of bread.
  • 5
    Add the bread to the griddle or hot saucepan.
  • 6
    Add cheese to each of the bread slices and then the ham.
  • 7
    Add the apples to the bread and cover with more cheese.
  • 8
    Complete the sandwiches with another slice of bread on top.

    Let brown until the cheese melts, be sure that both sides of the bread are evenly toasted.

    Serve immediately.

    You can replace the green apples with pears.

    To achieve a nice golden brown bread, spread a little butter on the slices before toasting.
