Valentine’s Day is very special for me. I enjoy giving love and being surrounded by love. On this day, I was given my most prized gift: my youngest daughter, my heart and soul, was born. What more could I ask for? I start celebrating Valentine’s Day at daybreak, kissing and hugging my loved ones. As a chef and food lover, I create dishes to please everyone. When it comes to celebrating with my significant other, I make exotic drinks for our toasts to love, the main ingredient in my recipes. Ingredients

  • 2 cups ripe strawberries
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar syrup (simple syrup)
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur
  • 6 strips orange zest, for garnish
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) sparkling wine or well-chilled champagne

Directions

    Remove leaves from strawberries and wash well.

    Place strawberries in food processor to purée. Strain purée through sieve (to remove seeds).

    In a small saucepot, place a cup of water, and a cup and a half of sugar over medium heat until completely dissolved. Remove from heat; let cool.

    Add simple syrup to the strawberry purée with orange liqueur; let chill in refrigerator for 20 minutes.

    Rub rim of previously chilled glasses with the orange strips, pressing down to let flavor permeate.

    Add two tablespoons of strawberry purée to each; then pour in champagne (or wine).

    Serve chilled with strip of orange zest.
