I was born a Colombian but became a Boricua after marriage. I was born to be a journalist, but I am also passionate about children’s literature. I moved to South Florida and soon discovered a fascinating new world—my kitchen! When I cook, I fall back on my journalistic roots: I investigate and explore. I like to think of my kitchen as a library, where the most important element is an old rolodex full of recipes, notes, and tips about my discoveries. My family is diverse, and as such my favorite dishes are those that honor the diversity that defines Latino cuisine. After all, I believe that’s the best way to reinvent our traditions and to make sure they survive generation after generation.
